Hydrant cabinets
Hydrant cabinets are used to store fire hoses, nozzles, reel and otherother firefighting equipment necessary for immediate action in the event of a fire. Hydrant cabinets are constructed to provide immediate access to firefighting equipment.
The equipment is also protected against unwanted damage or tampering. In the event of a fire, the cabinet can simply be opened, the hose can be unrolled and the firefighting can begin.
WHAT THE HYDRANT CABINET LOOKS LIKE
The hydrant cabinet takes the form of a sturdy structure that is made of metal. With this durable material, the equipment housed in the hydrant cabinet is protected against mechanical damage, corrosion, weathering, etc. The cabinet is usually red in colour. The red colour is typically used for easy identification in the event of an unexpected fire. The hydrant cabinet may have a solid door or a glass door. Glass doors allow visual inspection of the contents of the cabinet without opening it.
AREAS OF APPLICATION
Hydrant cabinets are installed in various types of buildings and objects. The most common are commercial and office buildings, hospitals, schools, public buildings, manufacturing and industrial buildings, apartment complexes and residential buildings.
LOCATION
Hydrant cabinets are often located in corridors, near entrances, near stairways, etc. The location of the hydrant cabinet is determined by the ordinance. It is important that hydrant cabinets are not blocked and that they are regularly inspected and maintained.
