Inspection of fire extinguishers

Inspections, maintenance and repairs of fire extinguishers are carried out in the scope and manner prescribed by legal regulations and normative requirements according to the current legislation of the Czech Republic. This legislation requires all fire extinguishers to be checked for serviceability at least once a year. These checks of fire extinguishers may only be carried out by service technicians who hold a valid licence to carry out such checks.

The maintenance of fire extinguishers shall include a periodic test of the extinguishers, during which a surface inspection shall be carried outinspection, marking inspection, inspection of the interior of the container, leak test of the actuating fitting or valve and test of the safety valve. It shall be carried out at the following intervals:

for water and foam extinguishers, once every 3 years
for other extinguishers once every 5 years

It is clear from the above that it is not possible to carry out this periodic test at the customer's premises on an emergency basis. This procedure is time-consuming and requires quality workshop equipment. The operation of our workshop is certified and meets the requirements of ISO 11602-2:2020 for the inspection, maintenance and periodic testing of fire extinguishers in the manner and to the extent specified in this standard.

If an extinguisher reaches the prescribed service life or is in a condition in which it can no longer be repaired, we will carry out the scrapping and environmental disposal of the extinguisher in accordance with the applicable legal acts.

Our service technicians are regularly trained and demonstrate their knowledge of the Ministry of Interior Decree No. 246/2001 Coll. as amended, and successfully pass tests in accordance with the fire protection standard ČSN ISO 11602-2:2002 Annex A, prescribed for authorized persons servicing portable and mobile fire extinguishers. The testing is carried out under the auspices of the Engineering Testing Institute.
