The forklift course and its completion is one of the most important activities in risk prevention and OSH in the transport and logistics industry. By participating in the forklift course we prevent not only sanctions from the regional labour inspectorateas well as the costs associated with medical expenses, permanent consequences and loss of earnings for employees.
The basic prerequisite for driving a forklift is training and authorization drivers, who must be physically fit and over 18 years of age, and completion of a forklift training course. A driver's license is required to drive forklifts.
FORKLIFT BREAKDOWN:
Class I - Electric trucks
Class II - Internal combustion engine trucks
GROUP CLASSIFICATION:
A - Platform, low lift, pulling and pushing manually guided
B - Platform, low-lift, towing and pusher trucks with lever control
C - Platform, low-lift, towing and pushing with steering wheel control
D - Manually operated high-lift
E - Forklift with lever steering
W1 - Forklifts with steering wheel steering and a lifting capacity of less than 5 tonnes
W2 - Forklift trucks with steering wheel steering and lifting capacity over 5 tonnes
G - Forklifts with lifting platform
Z - Special trucks
As part of risk prevention, the employer must, in particular, in connection with the operation of self-propelled forklifts:
Determine the extent of training in legal and other regulations to ensure health and safety at work, including the extent of familiarisation with relatedthe risks arising from the operation of the trolleys at the employer's relevant workplaces for the qualification (qualification requirements) of the operators, respectively. the qualification requirements for future forklift operators
Ensure that operators or future operators of forklift trucks are trained in accordance with point 1
For forklift truck operators, determine the period and content of recurrent training, including the period of verification of knowledge of the regulations according to point 1
Ensure that for forklift truck operators the knowledge of the regulations for occupational health and safety is verified at the periods specified in point 3
Ensure adequate training of other employees with job responsibilities related to the operation, maintenance, inspection, etc. of powered material handling equipment
