Foam

Foam fire extinguishers are designed to extinguish fires of classes A, B and, for special types, also F. They are among the most commonly used extinguishers in industry, commercial premises and households. The extinguishing agent consists of water mixed with foam, which provides better wetting of surfaces and fires. It also creates a foam layer that isolates the burning substance from airborne oxygen. The foam thus works effectively on the principle of the smothering effect and can be easily removed after extinguishing.

For a more environmentally friendly solution, we also offer fluorine-free foam extinguishers, which can be found here.

WHAT CLASSES OF FIRE ARE FOAM EXTINGUISHERS DESIGNED FOR?
ABF foam extinguishers are designed to extinguish the following classes of fire:

  • Class A - solid or organic materials such as wood, coal, paper, textiles or plastics.
  • Class B - flammable liquids such as gasoline, petroleum oil, paint, or diesel
  • Class F - indicates frying oils and fats. E.g. vegetable, sunflower, olive, butter and lard.

TYPES OF FOAM FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

AB foam

Suitable for extinguishing Class A and B fires. Used in the chemical industry, combustible warehouses, paint shops and other operations where there is a risk of fires involving liquids not miscible with water.

Fluorine-free AB foam

Environmentally friendly fluorine-free option. Designed for extinguishing Class A and B fires, suitable for areas where the emphasis is on ecology and reduced ecological footprint.

ABF foam (including fluorine-free variants)

Specialised for Class A, B and F firefighting. Mainly used in kitchens, restaurants, fast food outlets, bakeries or catering operations. They contain special additives which, when in contact with the oil, form a protective film to prevent the access of oxygen.

ABF Antifreeze Foam (AF - Antifreeze)

Suitable for outdoor environments or unheated buildings. They retain their properties even at low temperatures, typically in the range 0 °C to +60 °C, with antifreeze types tolerating even lower values.

WHERE CAN FOAM EXTINGUISHERS BE USED?

Private buildings, offices, office buildings, public areas, laboratories, agricultural facilities, hotels, kitchens, restaurants, fast food outlets, canteens (for ABF types), flammable liquid storage, paint shops, chemical plants

Foam apparatuses offer a very wide range of applications due to their efficiency and at the same time their friendliness to the surface of the materials to be extinguished.

TECHNICAL PARAMETERS AND AVAILABLE VARIANTS

Foam extinguishers are available in different filling volumes, most commonly:
2 l, 6 l, 9 l.

They are designed to withstand both normal and severe conditions. The antifreeze versions allow use even in freezing conditions.
