Fire extinguishers
A fire extinguisher is one of the basic means of fire protection used primarily for the operational control of fires in the initial phase of fire development. Lithium batteries are extinguished differently and cannot be "extinguished" in the conventional sense. Known extinguishing agents (powder, foam or water) cannot reach the source of the fire. They must therefore be extinguished by special means.
Fire extinguishers for extinguishing lithium batteries find their application especially in industrial buildings, means of transport, residential areas.
THE RANGE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS:
Portable extinguishers - can be easily carried and are designed for fires in the initial phase.
Mobile extinguishers - are designed for industry and premises where there is a higher risk of lithium battery fires.
Universal portable UNIEX - are all-purpose extinguishers.
HOW A LITHIUM BATTERY FIRE OCCURS:
A lithium battery fire is most often caused by mechanical damage, overheating or short circuit inside the battery. Thermal runaway is the process where heat begins to be released uncontrollably from the battery, resulting in an explosion or ignition.
RISK OF LITHIUM BATTERY FIRE:
An ignited lithium battery can reach high temperatures and for this reason such a fire poses a serious risk. During a fire, toxic gases are released and explosions occur. This type of fire cannot be extinguished with a conventional fire extinguisher.
